Is it necessary to get your wisdom teeth pulled out?

I went to the dentist the other day and he said I need to get my two upper wisdom teeth pulled out...is it necessary?Some people say it is some people say it isn't?!!!

Why remove a wisdom tooth? This is a lower, but the same thing can happen on the upper if you don't have room for the tooth.

The red arrows on the x-ray show the grey area that has decayed due to the wisdom tooth being present under the gum. The tooth shown is the exact same tooth shown in the x-ray, but turned so you can see the cavity. Food and bacteria can get down there and you can't clean it out. Eventually, it makes a cavity in the tooth next to the wisdom tooth and makes it so you have to have BOTH teeth removed.
Reply:Only if they come in badly, I got mine pulled because they were coming in wrong. So, no you don't have to have them pullled.
Reply:get it done, or unless you want them to rot in your mouth. That's what I was told. I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed.
Reply:I lost all 4 at age 17. Have done well without them. Mine were causing pressure that would have scrunched my front teeth.

Reply:There may be a reason your dentist suggested removing them. It is not always necessary, but could cause problems later. If you are uncertain, get a second oppinion.
Reply:Well a denist wouldnt say u needed to get them out if u dont. Wat was his reasoning behind that? I still have three of mine and the only reason that came out was because it started to play up.

Reply:it probably is necessary since theyre ingrown and it will probably bother you when u get older and the other teeth start develping more. but its not that bad.. i removed mine 2 years ago and i had to skip school for a week since i couldnt talk and they were swollen. during the procedure they put u to sleep.
Reply:1st. off, ask your dentist his exact reason for it! The only 2 scenarios I know of is as in your first answer on here, they're coming in crooked. In which case they'll push against the other teeth next to them and cause you excrutiating pain later on. 2nd. reason is you don't have enough room for they're growth without interfering with the adjacent teeth!
Reply:it is not necessary, keep them clean and floss. dentist suggest this to make money, and it hard for them to clean in the wisdom teeth areas.
Reply:normally they say not unless they bother you or have cavity.


Then on the other hand they say that they can diform your teeth over time.


I got mine pulled today i`m glad i did it and after all the had cav and they were pushing up on my teeth.


The 2 bottom onces that are still inside i will not take them out until the bother me.
