and all the wisdom teeth are still below the gum line and i can't see them, only with an x ray i can see them. so how are they gonna get to pull out the teeth? and on a scale of 1-10, how painful is it?i dont think they are gonna put me to sleep, im gonna have local anesthetics.
Im 14 and im getting my 4 wisdom teeth pulled out in 4 days?
i'm 12 and i just got mine done, and they're gonna do it by like slicing your gum and then getting it out. i know it sounds bad - haha, sorry if im making you more nervous or something. %26amp;%26amp; it doesnt hurt when theyre doing it, but after about five hours it kills - (from 1-10 it would be a 9). then the next few days it doesnt hurt that much, but you should stay home and watch tv %26amp; stuff. btw, i know it sounds weird but you should chew gum a few days after the operation to make sure that you can still open your mouth after it heals completley. and try not to use any cold things - that's what dentists tell you to do, but you should use hot packs (i used a hot waterbottle) so the circulation keeps moving. if you use an icepack or something it cuts off the circulation and takes longer to heal. PS: they dont put you to sleep unless you're reallllyyy afraid. but they obviously numb you. and they also asked me if i wanted to use laughing gas, but i said no. you could if you wanted to, though.
Reply:well it not that painful i would rate the pain at least 2-3 not very painful i had mine pulled and mine were all broke and the gum started growing over the teeth and it wasnt very painful when mine were pulled
Reply:Probably the only thing you will feel is a little tugging. They give you plenty of Novocaine, so it doesn't hurt. If you are nervous, ask for nitrous oxide (you breath it through a mask). It will help you relax, without putting you to sleep. As far as getting to the teeth, they will make a little incision, and probably close it with a stitch or two (probably the dissolving kind). Once the Novocaine wears off, you may feel some pain, but it's not anything you can't handle. They will probably give you a prescription for some pain killers to take for the first day or two. The best thing to do is take them before the pain gets too bad, then you can keep on top of it. Ice packs (on the sides of your jaws) also help. You'll be fine!
Reply:I had mine removed at 15 and three of them were still under the gumline. They are going to cut the gum until they can get the tooth out...they had to chip mine out b/c they were so big. It is not all that painful. All I tok was Tylenol b/c I was allergic to the prescription pain medicine and I did fine. I was eating chicken nuggets from McDonalds the next day. It's nothing to be overly worried about. The only thing I would say is see is there is any way they will put you to sleep if possible. I dn't think you want to be awake for that, b/c you will be able to see/hear everything going on.
Reply:they might give u a shot or laughing gas so u go to sleep, u have to or it will hurt like hell if it isnt out of your gum yet. after they pull your wisdom out, it will bleed a lot so like every hour or so, rinse out your mouth..dentist will explain. u have to eat soft food, such as soup and stuff for like a week till u get use to not having teeth in the back. dentist explains more.. 1-10 i think it's probably 5. during the time they are pulling it out, if they sleep u then u only feel lilttle pinches. maybe 4. depends how sensitive u are. after the pulling about 5. i am 15, i got mine pulled out last year, so personal experence. hope it goes well to you. good luck =)
