i had 4 wisdom teeth pulled 5 days ago, together with the removal of another two teeth and the exposure of another which was lodged in my gum. the first few days were pretty painful, but has gradually got better. i was supposed to go back to work today, but woke up with a sore throat (only on one side), headache and mild ear ache. is this normal or could this be the beginning of an infection? should i be concerned?

definetly and ear or some sort of gland infection, i would go to the doc and see what's up.
Reply:did you use salt mouth washes after eating your soup? I hope you were not eating any solids.
I had all 4 of my wisdoms pulled - must be close to 20 years ago now. I never had any after effects other than not being able to talk much.
I made lots and lots of vegetable soup, and washed my mouth with salt water washes - couldnt use the tooth brush - and took a week off work.
