Does it hurt to get your teeth pulled?

im getting 4 permenant teeth pulled that are located in the back tomarrow for my braces.. im wondering if it hurts? will they put me to sleep? becuase i wuld rather be asleep when it happenes then awake...

They can knock you out or use gas, but either way it will hurt later after the meds they use wear off. They should give you some pain killers to take. Make sure you take one BEFORE the meds they used on you wear off.

Reply:Not to make you scared or anything, but it hurts a lot. I got 4 permanent teeth pulled out for braces too. They don't put you to sleep but they give you a numbing shot, which hurts too. The best advice I could give you is to eat some pain reliever before you go. Good luck!
Reply:You can request to be put to sleep. I myself would advise it...four teeth is a lot to sit through awake.





Either way...the extractions themselves will be painless because of the use of anesthetic and sedatives during the procedure.





Afterward you'll feel pain...but nothing intolerable. Usually a couple Tylenol will do the trick. You also might have some swelling and bruising along your jawline...don't be alarmed...this is normal due to the trauma to the gum tissue. A good old fashioned ice pack will take care of that.





Your dentist will give you all the information you need.
Reply:You probably will be given enough anesthetic/pain killer that you will not feel anything when they are being removed but you will be sore afterwards and they will probably recommend you take tylenol or advil.

Reply:i had one tooth pulled in the back recently. i want to be honest with you... it did hurt.


i was not put under, tho i had the option. it hurt. but not to the point of being unable to "take it"...





if you are having four pulled... ask for anesthesia!


ask if you can have a valluim for the night before and maybe the day of... for anxiety (they gave a scrit for me of this, when i was only having a root canal.)


get pain meds for after too.


stock up on protien drinks and other liquid food for the first couple of days.


m,ake sure you have someone who can help you the first day at the very least... drive you home.

Reply:The actual teeth pulling doesn't hurt. Depending on the dentist: you might need the novacaine shot does pinch a little, and your mouth will be sore afterwards when the pain relief wares off. It's managable though and usually the Dentist will give you something to help with the pain. Most dentists don't put people to sleep for this procedure but that is more up to the preference of the dentist. You can always request it and see what they say.
Reply:They'll give you a shot of purple magic (made up) which itself might hurt having that needle in your gums and all the magicness enter your blood after that you feel no pain ... you become immortal!! Even after it wears off you should be okay, although your having 4 teeth pulled so it might still hurt a little.





Also they can gas you ... personally I don't like this sorta thing.
Reply:Propably not I mean putting you to sleep. I just had all my top ones pulled and I am in my 30s something that ran in the family. but try to think of something else and it will help alot when it comes time . it really does not hurt that much . I do not know how old you are but try this, just think of something else nice it does help.

Reply:i use to pull out my own teeth...but it wasnt a good idea, now that my adult teeth grew it looks like i have vampire teeth. people think its awesome...





just ask tehm to put you to sleep. OR they might numb your mouth so your wont feel anything.
Reply:i had to get 2 teeth pulled when i got my braces on and it didnt hurt that bad! i just got 2 shots on either side and then i didnt feel a thing! and afterwards the only thing that sux is u cant eat for a couple hours! but it dont hurt! Dont worry bout it!! ;)
Reply:Yes it does hurt .. no they won't put you to sleep unless you go to an oral surgeon .. I'm surprised they are doing all 4 at once and without a surgeon ... I would see if you can request one .. also .. no matter which way you go .. it'll be painful afterwards .. you'll have 4 open wounds in your mouth and you need to be careful not to get them infected.
