Does it hurt to have your wisdom teeth pulled with just a local anistetic (sp?)
Does it hurt to have wisdom teeth pulled?
Yep. Some can tolerate a local anesthetic, but I need something a lot stronger! Talk to your dentist about options.
Reply:With anesthetic it doesn't until well after. Without YES!
Reply:I would imagine it would be unbearable . Make them knock you out! It still hurts (the after affects) even then but I can't imagine doing it unless put to sleep.
Reply:Depends. Mine barely hurt at all...I milked it for about half a day. But a friend of mine was in pain for awhile. Depends on how easy they come out i guess.
Reply:mybottoms are gone, but still have uppers. I know it took quite a while to get them out. almost raised me right out of the chair. wasn't all that bad,but never know till it happens.
Reply:No. The healing process is what is most uncomfortable. Medications are available to cut down the swelling and the pain: I suggest you discuss this with your oral surgeon or dentist before you start. I wish you the best.
Reply:yes when you don't have a strong anistetic. be careful sometimes the root can not easily pulled out it will hurt a little bit .
Reply:I haven't had my wisdom teeth pulled but a reall y close friend of mine just had hers pulled. She said YES it hurts, but with her they had to cut into the bone in her jaw to get one of here wisdom teeth pulled out and the entire side of her face swole up and she couldn't eat solid food for a week and a half atleast. But it usually doesn't hurt that bad, but I'm sure it hurts some. Hope this helps!
Reply:Most people go to an oral surgeon and get knocked out for that. But I for one...was not about to do that. So my dentist actually went ahead and did it. I was scared to death, but when I was nice and numb it really wasn't as bad as I feared. I didn't really feel much of anything.
The part the sucked the most was later laying on the sofa the rest of the day with a mouth full of gauze (will happen no matter how you have them removed), waiting for the bleeding to clot totally and feeling like I'd been beat up. You will definitely want to rinse your mouth out often, but you shouldn't spit and your mouth is sore for a while, so that sucks. But the soreness afterward is bearable, especially with a nice pain reliever.
Reply:I had my wisdom teeth pulled when i was 16. They usually knock you out...it doesnt hurt when they knock you out, but I woke up in the middle of the procedure and i felt the dentist cut into my gums and that hurt like a son of a biscuit. Afterward they give you pain killers tho. You should be okay..it's definitely not the worst thing to happen to anyone. Don't worry too much and good luck if you're getting it done...and take it easy afterwards
