My gums are swollen from my wisdom teeth and my teeth are now crowding. I just want to pull all of them out in one session. How long is the recovery time? Will I have to take off work and school due to drowsiness?
If I get all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled, how long is the recovery time?
I had all four of my wisdom teeth out the week before school started. I had it on a Tuesday and i found out the school orientation was changed to that Friday. My surgery was about 11 in the morning and the anesthesia didn't wear off till about 10 at night. I made the orientation, and i felt find. I was still taking medicine (advil,no perscreption drugs) but i felt find. So recovery time might be about 3 days or it can be up to 3 weeks. I suggest if you're going to get the surgery schedule it for (yes i know this is a bad date due to the holidays) you're Christmas break off of school. You won't have the best holiday ever, but you will get the teeth out and you won't miss any school. If you do it during the school year, you will most likely miss at least 1 day. I hope this helps, and don't worry about the surgery.
Reply:It will probably be 2 or 3 days to be back in the swing on things but 2 or 3 weeks for healing to really settle things down. You will feel like a chipmunk for a while! I had all 4 done when I was in the Military. I don't think I would want to do it 2 at a time, I'd chicken out!
Reply:Be good to yourself, take two days off. When I had teeth pulled I did it on a Friday so I could be off the weekend.
Reply:I had all four of my wisdom teeth taken out at once in day surgery under a general anaesthetic. I needed someone to drive me home and keep a bit of an eye on me for the first day. But after 2-3 days I felt fine as long as I didn't eat stupid things or do to much. I would probably take a week off school/work just to be sure. And follow the doctors recommendations for keeping your mouth SUPER clean and regarding pain control. I had a bit of swelling but virtually no pain at all which was fabulous.
I have however had friends who got them taken out in the Dentists chair with just a local .... DO NOT RECOMMEND! Although if you are wanting to lose some weight one of my friends did not eat for a month after doing it this way.
Do it the way I did and you should be happy. Don't put up with the pain of wisdom teeth. It isn't worth it.
Reply:I had all four of mine taken out yesterday. I felt good enough today to take my dog to the dog park, as well as do some work around the house.
It really depends on the medication they give you. I got a wonderful anti-swelling medication and hardly had any puffiness! Eating has been a problem, however. For the first day or so I could only eat mashed potatoes (yum), pudding and Luigi's Italian ice (no complaints there).
I have been a bit drowsy. I would suggest taking off work for about 2-3 days. You might be fine with going to school about a day or two after the surgery is done. It depends on your reaction to the medicine (and the surgery itself).
