4 wisdom teeth pulled and i got two dry sockets, can i smoke?

i had my wisdom teeth out 5 days ago and have developed 2 dry sockets. I didn't smoke during this period, however now that i do have dry sockets, can i smoke? ive got some good painkillers so there is no large discomfort, will smoking be that bad for it (i know it wont be good, but to what extent will it lengthen the recovery?)

you shouldent be smoking in the first place...
Reply:might as well,go for it.you should put some gauze over the hole though.good luck and thank god for pain killers.
Reply:if you smoke you will retard the healing. U take a chance of developing an infection. Dry socket is usually caused by sucking on something such as smoking or using a straw to drink sodas. Bad stuff. Hate to see you end up having to have root canals on top of the tooth pulling.

Don't smoke
Reply:Maybe you should take this as an opportunity to quit smoking.
Reply:You can smoke, but I don't recommend it. All it will do is slow your healing. Placing gauze over it won't make a difference, and it has nothing to do with root canals. I'm sure you've heard all about the dangers of smoking, so I won't bore you. Discomfort is just a personal thing. Sorry you're hurting.
