Can you have your wisdom teeth pulled out if they haven't fully grown out of your gums?

My top 2 wisdom teeth are fully grown and are cramming my top teeth too close. and my bottom 2 wisdom teeth are half way out and are cramming my bottom teeth. what should I do?

Can you have your wisdom teeth pulled out if they haven't fully grown out of your gums?
Call an oral surgeon right away. DON'T call your dentist - you can go directly to an oral surgeon, and then you won't have to pay for the visit to the dentist, who will only send you to an oral surgeon anyway. That is what I did!

I don't have dental insurance, either. The consultation was $75 and the extraction was about $350 per tooth. Don't wait and put it off - your teeth won't go away, they will only cause more problems in the future! Good luck :-)
Reply:The wisdom teeth that haven't broken through the gum are called impacted and they will be cut out if you want them all removed, which seems to be the thing to do now.
Reply:Get help
Reply:Yes, that would be oral surgery. They sometimes will do it if you are getting braces or they know that they are not goingto grow in properly
Reply:The dentist will pull them out, i believe it's called "impacted" Go see your local dentist.
Reply:Yes they are impacted, and they can be removed through surgery. In the case of impacted teeth you will probably be sedated, because they will have to cut into your gum to extract the teeth, and then they will stitch up the hole with dissolving stitches.
Reply:Go to a dental surgeon. I had the same problem as you did and had both 2 top wisdom teeth and 2 bottom wisdom teeth removed. Nowadays, dental surgeons have fine tools and do a great job, not to mention, they will most likely put you to sleep or lightly sedate you(conscious sedation), you won't remember the process and during the procedure, you won't feel anything.
Reply:It's about $70 to pull a tooth. If it needs to be cut out it could be more. Maybe you could do two at a time or set up a payment plan.
Reply:I had braces when I was 11. Right before high school, I switched to retainers. After 4 years of braces and retainers, my wisdom teeth were watched carefully. It was determined that if they came in, they would crowd my teeth and basically undo 4 years worth of work.

None of my 4 teeth had actually broken through the gum surface yet as I was only 16, but they were close. The doctor had to cut open the gum tissue, literally break the tooth, then remove it. I chose local anasthetic so I could be aware of all of this, but some patients opt for general anasthesia.

So yes, you can have your wisdom teeth removed even if they haven't come in yet. In fact, it's a very common procedure. And often insurance will cover much of the cost as this is not something cosmetic.
