What is it like to get wisdom teeth pulled out?

I am 15 years old, and my braces were taken off about a year ago. My orthodontist recently took an x-ray of my mouth to see how my wisdom teeth are growing in. They are growing straight, but they are still under the gum. He told me that this is a good time to get them removed since the root isn't large. I've seen answers to questions about people getting their teeth removed, but the teeth were already grown in, so i was wondering if anyone here has had their teeth removed while they were still under the gum, that could describe to me what took place during the procedure.

Thanks.

This would be condidered a surgical extraction, meaning that there would be inscisions made to remove the teeth. Trust me, although you will be sore and swollen for a week or so following the procedure, in the long run you will be spared the agony of the issues that can be associated with having your wisdom teeth remain in!
Reply:it hurts unless you get iv sedation
Reply:I work at the dental office with a very good doctor who can remove 4 wisdom teeth in 40-50 min.But it also depends on their roots location . Usually all patient are very happy after procedure. For some people we use lauhging gas.Otherwise,

don't be affraid!

Hi, I think I can help you a bit on this. I am a 5th year (from total 6 year edu) student in dentistry from Bulgaria. I've also had operations for extracting my wisdom teeth that were around 3 mm below the gum (that means that they had a bone cavarage of that range).

Anyways, speaking about the operation - well, after the anesthesia, you simply do not feel a thing, so don't worry about it. And I am not just telling you that to make you feel less worried. I really mean it - the anesthesia is the part when you feel something - for the rest of the time you will be hearing and knowing that something is going on and of course you will feel they are working (the feeling is more like pressure onto the area).

The procedure starts with the anesthesia, then comes the incission of the gum (it doesn't hurt, you don't feel a thing), then they bur out (take away) some of the bone to visualize the tooth and then they remove it, clear the space and finally they put some stitches (they are removed at around the 7th day after the surgery).

Bottom line is that you shouldn't worry about anything during the operation - it is really a standart procedure.

If you have any more questions, I'd be happy to answer them! :)

Take care!
