When my wisdom teeth get pulled, will my other teeth spread and cause my gap to come back?

My wisdom teeth pushed my teeth together, closing the gap between my two front teeth. I'm afraid my teeth might spread out again once they are pulled.

Firstly, your wisdom teeth did not cause the closure of the gap. So, no, they will not move back, and there is data to support this statement.


There is a general tendency for teeth to move forward and crowd up a bit as we get older. If you think about it, your jaw has a hinge joint at the back, and when you put food between your back tooth and bite down, there is a vector of anterior movement, not backwards.


You would have to remove all 3 back molars for this force to change, and to cause teeth to move backwards.

Reply:the gums grow there. I had my wisdom teeth pulled 4 years ago. I could feel big gaps way back there with my tongue. Then in about a year you just get used to the gaps there. And have to use a tooth brush to get the gunk out of there after eating. You just get used to it. Then the gums grow there. ~~~ P.S. When I saw this question. I felt mine, And they feel normal now.
Reply:It is possible but there is no concrete evidence to prove this. If this does happen after you have them pulled, you could get a retainer to move them back.
