How do you avoid dry sockets after getting your wisdom teeth pulled?

My bottom right one was impacted and my top two were just pulled like a normal tooth is pulled, and my bottom left fit my bite so they left it alone..........but how do i avoid dry sockets?

How do you avoid dry sockets after getting your wisdom teeth pulled?
Keep your mouth clean and avoid food getting stuck back there. That means that you should eat food that you don't have to chew too hard and that won't get stuck in your surgical holes. Also rinse with a saline solution after eating and keep your mouth clean.
Reply:Keep the area clean. No smoking or drinking from a straw or heavy rinsing for 24 hrs.
Reply:Dennis: DO NOT SMOKE....thank you!
Reply:When I had mine pulled the dentist gave me a syringe with a curved tip so I could squirt water into the holes several times a day. You might want to ask your dentist for one of these. It did the trick for me.
Reply:No smoking

No straws

Eat soft foods

keep your mouth clean with warm salt rinses but don't spit to hard -
