Is it normal to have just pulled teeth 3 days ago, then your mouth lock up and not be able to open, close?

my husband just had this all done days ago..now its causing problems where he can't even open, close, chew, or even swallow. I was just wondering is this a side effect after surgery or should it be looked at again?

This is not normal, but it does tend to happen to people, not really a side effect of the surgery, usually it happens when someone has their mouth open at the limit for an extended period of time. It may be dislocated. It is possible for you to pop it back in place, but I think you should have your dentist look at it.
Reply:Oh yea, that's normal. Don't you see old men walking around where they can't open, close, chew or swallow? You just go through life like that, shrugging your shoulders going "oh well- guess this is normal".
Reply:It should be looked at- Quick. Not swallowing can lead to chocking ...
Reply:You better contact the dentist. Doesn't sound right to me.
Reply:Instead of wasting time here asking unqualified people.... isn't it safer to contact the dentist and ask him instead?

A blocked jaw does not sound like a normal thing. Anaestesia is not supposed to last more than a couple of hours...not days!

He might choke, or starve! So call your damn dentist now.
Reply:i would go get it looked at again it shouldnt be doing that
