Can I get my whisdom teeth pulled while pregnant?

My whisdom teeth are almost all the way in and there is no room for them. They are cutting the back of my jaw not the soft part...the boney hard part so it's very painful it hurts constantly and is giving me bad headaches. I don't go to the Dr. Again untill Oct.9...anyone know what I should do? Thanks!

you should always talk to you doctor, but ive been told that extractions are safe if the dentist uses only novacaine, and it has to be the kind w/o epinepherine (adreniline). i have to have a tooth out also, but its a back molar, not a wisdom tooth. as long as they're not impacted there shouldn't be any complications. i've had 2 out w/ just novacaine, and 2 out while being knocked out. i preferred being knocked, but that's me. i personally would wait it out if you can. also, wisdom teeth tend to grow every 4-6 weeks, so if you're in constant pain, something might not be right. good luck!
Reply:Call your doctor's office when you have questions between appointments. I don't have an answer for you as I had my wisdom teeth out at 15.
Reply:Yes you can. Just let the dentist know you are pregnant. You can't have the laughing gas but you can have the Novicaine. I think they recommend doing it before the last trimester because the codeine in the pain medication they will give you can slow the baby's breathing at birth.
Reply:I don't think it's recommended. My sister was supposed to have her wisdom teeth out and then found out she was pregnant and they wouldn't let her do it. You may be able to if you just get novacaine and stay completely awake but I'm fairly certain you won't be allowed to get any other kind of anasthetic, like laughing gas or the kind that makes you sleep.
Reply:hi there,

how far gone are you?

i dont think you can have teeth out while pregnant. i needed a tooth out when i was pregnant and they wouldnt allow it i had to wait till i had my baby. ring your doc he may be able to give you a beter answer. good luck (",)
Reply:You can contact your dentist with any questions. Procedures are different for pregnancies so they're best to contact. Pain relief is minimal.... they may have you wait til you deliver.

Good luck!
Reply:my dentist told me no because they put you to sleep when they pull them and that can really harm the baby. i did however, schedule an appt for 1 month after edd.
Reply:My dentist told me that the best and safest time to get dental work done during pregnancy was in the second trimester. I suggest contacting your dentist to see whether or not he will do it.
