Having my cat's teeth pulled out?

yesterday i took her to get her teeth cleaned, she has peridontal disease and she also has to have 3 teeththat have to be taken out. should i wait a little while before taking her to get it done? she was put under anesthesia yesterday and i don't wanna get too much done too soon. the vet said they should be removed in the future, he didn't say it had to be done right away.

Having my cat's teeth pulled out?
I don't know how old your cat is, and that would play into this a little. Beyond that, you should follow your vet's lead.

I am writing though to share something with you from a couple of months ago in Yahoo! Answers. A young woman wrote in about a cat she obviously loved and cherished. She had taken the cat to the vet to have her teeth cleaned; the vet had found a bad tooth and had removed it -- which released something really virulent, some sort of bacteria, into the cat's system, and when the young woman wrote, she was just a mess emotionally. She had had the tooth removed because it was the responsible thing to do, and now her cat was dying.

And the reason that the cat was dying was that the vet had not given antibiotic prophylaxis so that the cat's system could fight off any bacteria loosed into the blood stream by the tooth extraction. So before you take your cat in to have those teeth removed, ask for antibiotics to protect her, so you don't repeat this scenario. Before you go in to a human dentist to have diseased teeth pulled, the dentist will give you antibiotic prophylaxis, just ask for the same thing for your cat.
Reply:It sounds like your vet did the right thing. Your cat was already under anesthesia and getting its teeth worked on, so why have the hassle of running more blood work and then going under again to pull teeth that were most likely causing discomfort. Periodontal disease will cause major discomfort and could lead to serious problems down the road. I would not worry about it to much as vets speak up for animals and act in their best interest.
Reply:If he says it is OK to wait, I would give it some time as you are correct in being put under anesthesia too soon. Make sure that your vet gives the cat antibiotics before and during the procedure.
Reply:if my cat i would wait few weeks
