I had seven back teeth pulled and I am wondering which is better?

Should I get dentures or should I get a bridge? I noticed that my front tooth has a cavity. My front teeth are really pretty and I don't want to loose them. Would like a professional in put on this one.

Your best option would be to get a couple implants in the back and use those to connect a bridge to. You will get more biting force with bridges than partial dentures and bridges are cemented in so you don't have to worry about having something that comes in and out.

Implants and bridges are very costly, though. If money is a big issue and you don't have a lot to work with a partial denture is still a good option. It's held in with metal clasps connected to the front teeth you have left. It reduces your biting force and the clasps can sometimes be visible when you smile, but it's definitely a better option than leaving all those back teeth missing.
Reply:Do not have you're teeth pulled..Dentures are no fun. If you can afford a bridge or implants go that route. I am a dental assistant and I see a lot of patients with dentures and wished they had just one tooth. Keep what teeth you have left, fix them if needed, but see a (good) dentist for your options.
Reply:Don't get dentures, they are only about 30% effective vs. your real teeth. A bridge will last longer, be more comfortable and function better.
Reply:Well, in order to get a fixed bridge, you have to have something to "bridge" it to (also known as the abutment teeth). If you only have your front teeth and have no teeth in back then you can't do a traditional fixed bridge. The only option for a fixed bridge would be a cantilever bridge that has only one abutment. Cantilever bridges do not have a very high success rate.

The best option for you (if you are missing all of your back teeth) would probably be to repair your front teeth and go with a partial denture to replace your back teeth.

I definitely would not go the full denture route. Keep your natural teeth if at all possible. You will regret dentures later.

Good luck to you!
