When should wisdom teeth be pulled.?

my dentist insists on pulling my wisdom teeth eventhough i

have no cavities, pain or inflimation, also according to my

x rays no deterioation.

When should wisdom teeth be pulled.?
It might be a good idea to listen to your dentist. The reason why I say that is because I had one wisdom tooth that was hurting, to begin with I almost waited too long to get that one taken out because the way that I was hurting it felt like that all my teeth on the bottom left side of my mouth were giving me the trouble and I was scared to death to go to the dentist because I was afraid that they would have to take them all out. Well come to find out it was just that one wisdom tooth that was causing the whole problem and then I had so much infection in my gums it almost killed me because it was going into my blood stream. Then the next year almost to the day that my other one came out, another wisdom tooth started giving me problems, well I tell you I had everyone taken out that time. That's why I said that you might need to listen to your dentist. However what might be good for some might not be good for you. You have to do what is best for you. Good Luck !
Reply:Your welcome and Good Luck! Report It

Reply:As long as there is room for all your teeth and you are not having symptoms, there is no need to pull the teeth.
Reply:You get them pulled to PREVENT future problems and to give your other teeth more room in your mouth. If the dentist feels they need to be pulled then get them pulled.
Reply:I have had three dentist who have all stated that since there is no problem with my wisdom teeth then there is no need to pull them and thus incurring the possible complications this may cause. Sounds like your dentist may be making a bit of profit from the deal to motivate such an action unless your teeth look like they may be impacting. My cousin had a similar recommendation by his dentist who then went on to recommend a lot more unnecessary treatment.
Reply:There really is no reason to have your wisdom teeth pulled, as long as they are in good condition. If they are not causing you any pain and not causing your other teeth to press together to cause misalignment, then there is no reason at all to have your teeth extracted. Good luck!
Reply:Yeah! What the heck does a DENTIST know about teeth! What a nut! :-)

Just kidding. Seriously, he probably wants to prevent future problems that are likely to happen. If it looks like your wisdom teeth may crowd your other teeth or will break through in the future, then your dentist is saving you a LOT of pain and suffering in the future. If they are going to have to come out anyway, and they usually do, why wait until you are in pain? Get it over with. I wish I had mine out BEFORE my gums started to swell and give me great grief. Then I had to live with it for a month until my appointment to get them pulled. Yuck.
Reply:this stupid dentist!

I think he's jealous... I think he is....!!!

Somebody did it to him and he wants to do it to you...

Believe me that's not a very 'wise' thing to do... ;o)

Well anyway.... the doctor just wishes to get some practice, that's what I feel. Don't become his guinea pig and don't go for it.

There is a thing in the medical profession where they say don't meddle with a part as long as it doesn't give any trouble... that's a general rule!

I think you got your answer bro...

take care!
