I am living in Japan I am 16 and my wisdom teeth are comming in. I but I pulled off a chunk last night.?

So my wisdom teeth are coming in and I didn't think it was a bit deal till I pulled off a chunk. I had one removed before I left because it was the only one that had come in i pulled pieces off that one too when they came out. But I am not sure what to do right now with my one that is crumbling. Can I pull the tooth out myself piece by piece or will there be a problem with roots and left over tooth fragments??

I refuse to go home or have dental work done here because I am terrified of the dentist. I mostly need to know what is BEST and then I can decide if I am going to have to have something done here or go home. I only have 3 more months till I am supposed to leave, will I be fine till then?

It is unusual for a sixteen year old to have wisdom teeth erupted. They usually come in between 18-25 years. On the assumption you are correct, and it does not matter if it is a wisdom tooth or a 12 year molar, it is probably tooth decay causing the crumbling. If the decay gets into the nerve you will have allowed something to happen that never needed to happen. It could lead to a massive infection, or not. Are you a gambler with your health? Your choice, fear or not. It would be a shame to lose the twelve year molar or have to spend allot of money to save it. Every tooth you pull gets you one tooth closer to false teeth. If it is in fact your wisdom tooth don't procrastinate, get it out before your face swells. Dental infections can be life threatening.

---- happens. An 18 year old girl in Boca Raton, FL just died on the operating table from complications of general anesthesia for elective cosmetic surgery.

Would you like it to develop towards that for you because of fears that you've developed as a youngster or your belief in the tales of others who wanted nothing more than to see you terrified in the wake of their abundant knowledge and righteousness about dentistry? I've seen it all in 35 years you are typical in your fears. Only you will have to live with your decisions. No one else will feel your pain, not even your mother. Your going to need a dentist in your life, like it or not. Perhaps going to a local dental school and learning about what you are afraid of will be beneficial. Getting what you need online, from kids your age, or even a well meaning dental assistant is not good for you.

By the way, trying to pull out pieces without any real understanding of what you are doing is not BEST. Do you really think YOU can pull out a tooth piece by piece?

It's 5:30 am here. I have nothing to gain in leading you astray. I won't make a nickel on you. You are getting free advice from a highly experienced dentist. How will you let it affect your life? Knowledge is power. Get the knowledge. Your age does not prevent you from getting it, your experience in life does. Use my experience. Don't let this get out of hand. I hope I've helped.
Reply:OMG no! Please please please don't do it yourself. You can get an awful infection if you do it yourself. And think about how close your mouth is to your brain.

You can find some really great dentist in the bigger cities in Japan. My cousin teaches English there %26amp; got hit in the face with a soft ball....lost a tooth....and the dentist put it back in %26amp; he is now (6mths later) fine.

If you are frighten you can find a dentist that will put you under anithesia so you wont feel a thing. And with a wisdom tooth I can't imagine they would not do that.

I had 3 removed all at the same time (here in America) when I was in my 20's . Honestly I'm kind of embarresed to admit it but it was awsome! I was high as a kite that day. Slept well threw the night and felt pretty good the next day. But they gave me Vicadin %26amp; the next couple of days I felt fine %26amp; had really great dreams.
Reply:Go to a dentist.

If you are pulling out pieces of your tooth then there must be decay in the tooth. That decay will continue to spread in the tooth until it hit the pulp chamber and cause the tooth to die which in turn can lead to an abscess.

If you are pulling out pieces of tooth and it doesn't hurt... that's a bigger concern. It indicates that the tooth is already non-vital (nice clinical term for = needs a root canal). A non-vital tooth is prone to abscessing. An untreated abscess can lead to a great deal of pain, difficulty getting you numb for the extraction (the infection interferes with the novocaine) and in rare cases individuals have died from abscessed infections spreading throughout the body.

And no, you can't extract your own tooth. The fragments left in the deep tissues and bone will cause all of the above stated.

Personally, I wouldn't wait three months. What should be a simple extraction can turn into a major issue by then and make it far more difficult to remove. Which will make you even more afraid of the dentist.

Good luck.
Reply:I totally agree with what Mik has answered - infection will set in and then you will be in pain. See dentist ASAP
Reply:in simple language without using those heavy words i say that you shud go to the dentist im sure it will not hurt and if it would have then i think no one would prefer to go to dentist.

almost everyone goes to a dentist, if it would hurt then im sure they would have discontinued going to them!!!!

i think theres smthing rong with ur teeth b'coz you dont feel the pain while pulling out chunks of the teeth so pls go to the dentist and dont wait for a long time like 3 months

Im sure if u wait for such a long time it'll become more harmful and i think by that time it wont be able to be even cured!

So dont wait theres nothing to be afraid about the dentist dude they js helpin us by keepin our teeth healthy

And after this treatment i recomend u to go to dentist every six or seven months or u can even visit once a year

but you shud atleast visit the dentist

i was also afraid of them earlier but when i went to them i realised that nothing was there to be worid about!!!

good luck

:D

keep smiling :-)
