I got one wisdom tooth pulled and another tooth as well. Everything seemed normal until a little bit ago I ate some soup and then felt a piece of skin hanging down from where the tooth was, is this normal? After I just took my pill it is now gone ( I'm sure I swallowed it YUCK)I just want to make sure this isn't what happens when you get dry socket? It wasn't bloody so I don't think it was a blood clot, but I don't know if having a piece of skin hanging is expected?

A dry socket is usually preceded by knocking out the blood clot that forms when the tooth is pulled. If it wasn't super bloody, there shouldn't be a problem. If you start to notice your mouth tastes foul, even after brushing, call your dentist. You can develop pus in your mouth (abscess). It tastes horrible and no amount of mouth wash will make it go away. The dentist will have to "pack" the hole where the tooth was for several weeks, but it will heal. Good luck.

Reply:sometimes there can be skin hangin, depending on how the tooth was shaped it could have cut your gum. but then again it could have been something that was in the soup like a noodle, or a new layer of skin. if you are that worried about it call your dentist and see if everything is ok. good luck
