Having teeth Pulled Out?

I'm 19 years old, and have just been told that I have to have a tooth pulled out in July. I(Top right molar next to my wisdom tooth) I've never been good with dentists, so naturally I'm terified! Is there anyone who's had a normal molar taken out who can help me? How do they do it? Does it hurt and can you feel it being taken out? It's not so much the pain I'm scared of, and I don't mind having the injection, I'm just worried I'll be able to feel it. What does it feel like? I'm very nervous!

Having teeth Pulled Out?
I have never had one removed myself, but I observed many hours in dental clinic. They will give you a topical anethetic to numb the area, then inject the local anesthetic (derivative of novacaine). After that, you shouldn't feel too much unless it is infected. If infected, they may have to give you antibiotics first and then try again later. If not though, you should just feel pressure and pulling, not pain. If you feel pain, you need to tell him/her because they will stop and give you more anesthetic. You will be FINE. It isn't like it used to be. It may bleed for a little while and you may have to take some mild pain relievers for a day after the pull. It is NOTHING to be nervous about. Many people say "it's already out?" because they didn't feel much of anything. Good luck. You will feel much better when it's over.
Reply:there going to numb ur whole mouth. then start.. u should just feel pressure but no pain
Reply:Don't worry; it's nothing to be scared of. If it's an upper molar, they'll just numb the surrounding area, place pliers on your tooth and begin rocking it back and forth until it seperates from the jaw bone. Then it just slides right out. Doesn't hurt a bit.

If it's a lower tooth, they'll do a complete mandibular block and numb one whole side of your face and pull it the same way.

I've had 4 teeth pulled. It's quick, painless and no big deal.
Reply:Actually getting a tooth pulled out isn't all that bad. Yes, you can sort of feel it, but they anesthesize the area to the point that it barely hurts. There is nothing to be afraid of.
Reply:I am sad to hear that you are having a molar that is not your wisdom tooth--extracted. Did they tell you the reason?

What does it feel like? Hopefully you will not feel anything during the procedure---most patients who are not sedated say that they feel pressure from the tugging but not usually pain during the procedure because the tooth and gum area has been numbed.

I am still very curious why the molar is recommended to be extracted---actually disturbed by this.

Is it because it is heavily decayed and cannot be saved? It is because it has a root fracture? Is it because it is very mobile and you have heavy bone loss???? Is it because they need to create room for movement of other teeth due to over-crowding? If it IS NOT ANY ONE OF THESE REASONS---PLEASE CONSIDER A 2nd OPINION.

Thanks, Tina
